From the Power Button to the Internet
Class Objectives
The purpose of this class is to expose the student to the basic operations of a standard personal computer (PC). The Student will receive information about operating a home PC, including a brief history. By the end of the class, the student will have been exposed to the following areas:
- How to start a computer
- What the different devices on the PC do
- Basic Mouse and Keyboard Operations
- What windows are and how they work
- How to get around your desktop
- How to get around in Microsoft Windows XP
- How to customize the way your Windows XP looks
- How programs and files are set up on the PC (Windows Explorer)
- How to install programs
- How to get help when you need it
- What's all this 'left-clicking, double-clicking' stuff about?
- Maintaining your PC and keeping it clean
- How to adjust your monitor and resolution
- Accessing the Internet and some special warnings
- What's an MP3?
- How to properly shut down your computer
Class Prerequisites
All that is needed for this class is a desire to learn more about Personal Computers at a starter level.
One Time Class Length: 3 Hours
